Thread tension

Postby marti » Wed Dec 28, 2016 5:41 pm

I have a Bernina Artista 640. The top thread is showing on the bottom (back). I have tried to tighten the upper thread tension which is supposed to pull the lower thread to the right side (as indicated in the manual), but this made no difference. I don't know what else to try!

Could your bobbin tension be too tight?

I have a beloved 1130 and not matter what any technician says, when the bobbin tension is set to "factory specs", it is too tight and I finally loosened it myself before ditching the machine. Now it's perfect. When one can pull out the bobbin thread after sewing a six-inch seam, one KNOWS the tension is too tight. I put a big Post-It note on the machine whenever it goes in for service that says "Do not adjust bobbin tension."
