Hello from Europe

Postby hekkie » Sun Jul 25, 2010 11:23 am

Hello everybody,
My name is Dora, I am from the Netherlands, currently living in Belgium around Brussels somewhere.
Five years ago I bought my Bernina Aurora 440 QE, and I am still very happy with it, the best machine I've ever had.
About 2 years ago, whilst living in Florida, I bought the embroidery module, just with the beginners embroidery software.
In Tallahassee, where we lived, was, and still is, a great Bernina shop! The people there know a lot about Bernina and how to let everything work well on the computer etc. I hope to find such a reliable shop here too!
I liked sewing a lot, but moving around, adjusting to a new country put my sewing appetite in the freezer.
About two weeks ago I sewed a pair of pants for my adult son, and now I am working on a top for myself.
I have to get in the groove again. 8-)
Greetings!

Welcome! Sewing is a habit. I find I start something and all of a sudden am on a real tear and do one after another. Usually it is with a goal in mind. A vacation, a business trip, a party..something. Then when it is over I am totally burned out and nothing happens for a while. Right now I'm in between but some different priorities I have to deal with. Like today is cleaning light fixtures and replacing light bulbs. Isn't that fun? At least I'll be able to see my sewing when I'm done! What kind of things do you sew?

Thanks for your welcome, you're right, a goal in mind helps, like not finding good fitting and nice looking blouses/tops. 8-)

I sew a lot of different things, like tops, jackets, pants, curtains, tea cosy's, bedding stuff.
Sometimes I do some small machine quilting projects, like place mats, pillow's and my dog owns a nice little quilt.
Oh and the not-so-fun-to-do zipper repairs...
Nothing very difficult actually.

Welcome to the forum Hekkie. The 440E is a great machine - several on this forum have them and really like them a lot. Since you are away from your reliable dealer, until you find another in your area, if you have any questions, you can post them here and someone will have the answers for you. It's a very friendly group.

I am always sewing. I don't mean that I'm sewing all the time, but when I finish something, I start something else just to have something going.

I took a look at both of your work, pictures and blog.
Rose, you make just beautiful things! And you have some nice machines!
I liked your blog knhobby, just a little difficult to read, but a good practice 8-),very cute pictures of Laura making her first skirt.
And I love the fabrics you use, very pretty.
I do knit too! Mostly socks, but I have some yarn for a sweater, which I have to start with before winter hits Europe again!
