Looking for a machine with a good straight stitch... for piece work....which would you recommended. This machine would join a 730e. Thanks.

I have the predecessor to the 350PE, the 230PE, and I don't know what I would do without it. I think it is the perfect "class" machine, and I love it for piece work. I plan to keep mine until It falls apart.

Thank you for the help!

Made the trip to the dealer and she suggested a 330. I still do not understand the difference between the 350 and 330, beside the number of stitches and alphabet. I have found a lot of information on line regarding the 350 and not so much about the 330.

Has anyone had any problems/concerns with the snap on feet? Would this machine be compatible with a 730e... same bobbin case size? feet size? walking foot? As I do not want to have a second set of everything that I already have . (would be great to use the feet that I already have :D )

Thank you!

The 730 and 330 can use the same accessory feet. The snap on feet for the 3 Series machines are for a couple of the standard feet that come with the machine.

The bobbin systems are different. 730 is a 9mm wide machine and has a rotary hook system. The bobbins are thinner w shallow oval holes. 3 series machines are 5.5mm wide machines w oscillating hook system and the bobbins have round holes. Many people like to have one of each. Bobbins would be different but that is not a major thing.

I am curious about what your dealer said about your 350. They are the same machine except for the features and stitches offered. I like the 380 because knee lift is standard, etc.

Hope this helps.

I really don't think there is much difference. But ...
The only reason I chose the 350 over the 330 (because to me, they were identical) is that the 350 has the blanket (a/k/a buttonhole) stitch that I like for machine appliqué.

At the Bernina web page for the 350PE
http://www.bernina.com/en-US/Products-us/BERNINA-products-us/BERNINA-Sewing-and-Embroidery-Machines-us/BERNINA-3-Series-us/BERNINA-350-us
the photograph immediately above the "115 stitches for every situation" section has circles that have been stitched down. The circle in the upper-right part of the photo has been appliqued with the blanket stitch. That was the deal-maker for me.
The 380 has "mirror image." For the difference in price, I did not want it that badly.
