Some information on dating your Bernina machine based on the serial number.

Bernina machine serial numbers are found on the back of the power supply cover. Bernina serial numbers are 8 digit numbers.
The first 2 digits of the serial number can determine the Year in which a Bernina machine was manufactured.

The Identification of Manufacture date is as follows:

Note: In the 1950’s and 1960’s the first 2 digits represents the Year. Starting in 1970 the
first 2 digits of the serial # were change to 10. (The first 2 digits follow accordingly:(10
= 1970, 11=1971, 12 = 1972, 13 = 1973 and so on…)

Serger Serial Numbers:
Serger Serial Numbers are stamped on the back of
the machine on the Id tag. The numbers are as follows
Example: 0699 102240 ( 06 being the month, 99 being the Year (1999), and
the 102240 being the actual machine serial Number.)

Bernette Serial Numbers: The serial number on a bernette
machine is it’s Machine No. Which is an 8-digit number, which is on the
back on the Id tag.
Example: Machine No. 44875082

Deco Serial Numbers: Are on the back of the machine on the Id
tag. The deco serial numbers are 12 digits with spacing in between.
Example: No. 44 44 931 547 09
(Older Bernette/deco serial number information will be posted at a later date.)

Note: Older Bernina machines will have the 8-digit serial number
stamped either on the base or the head. (Base on the bottom belt cover
side, or on bottom, or back.)
